John Cage's Prepared Piano

Igor Stravinsky 1882-1971

The Rite of Spring, French title Le Sacre du printemps (Russian: «Весна священная», Vesna svyashchennaya) is a ballet and orchestral concert work by the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky. It was written for the 1913 Paris season of Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes company, with choreography by Vaslav Nijinsky and stage designs and costumes by Nicholas Roerich. When the ballet was first performed, at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées on 29 May 1913, the avant-garde nature of the music and choreography caused a near-riot in the audience. Although designed as a work for the stage, with specific pasages accompanying characters and action, the music achieved growing success as a concert piece and later became recognised as one of the most influential musical works of the 20th century. It is widely performed in the concert hall, and is frequently revived on the stage.

Put Your Hand in My Hand lyrics

Put your hand in my hand,
You can be my friend.
We don’t have to look the same, to let our voices blend.
We can trust each other
We can try again
If you put your hand in my hand
I will be your friend.

We can share the whole world,
We can understand
We don’t have to think the same to stand here hand in hand.
We can live together
Learning to depend
If you put your hand in my hand,
I will be your friend.

If you put your hand in my hand,
I will be your friend.

Singing All Together lyrics

Singing—Altogether
Singing—Just for joy.
Singing—Altogether
Every—girl and boy.

Everybody singing a song,
Everybody singing a song,
Everybody sing all day long,
Everybody sing all day long.

La la la la la la, la la la la

Pom pom pom, pom pom pom,
Pom pom pom, pom pom pom,

Sing your song, and sing it all day long.
Sing your song, and sing it all day long.

All you do is raise your voice,
It’s a simple choice.

Molly Malone lyrics

In Dublin’s fair city,
Where the girls are so pretty,
I once set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone
As she wheeled her wheelbarrow
Through the streets, broad and narrow,
Singing, Cockles and mussels,
Alive alive-o

Alive alive-o
Alive alive-o
Singing, Cockles and mussels,
Alive alive-o

She was a fishmonger
But sure ‘twas no wonder,
For so were her mother and father before,
And they each wheeled their barrow
Through the streets, broad and narrow,
Singing, Cockles and mussels,
Alive alive-o

She died of a fever,
And no one could save her,
And that was the end of sweet Molly Malone
And her ghost wheeled her barrow
Through the streets, broad and narrow,
Singing, Cockles and mussels,
Alive alive-o
